Storing grapes
It’s best to store grapes in the refrigerator in their packaging. Before you put them away, remove any damaged or shrivelled grapes, as these will cause the other grapes to spoil faster. Grapes can absorb odors from other foods, so avoid storing them near smelly vegetables like onions. Don’t wash grapes until just before you use them.
If you want to make sure you never run out of grapes, try freezing them. Frozen grapes can keep for up to three months. To freeze grapes, wash and pat them dry, arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet and place them in the freezer. Freeze for at least two hours before sealing them tightly in a freezer bag.
Preparing grapes
Rinse grapes in cold water just before you use them. After rinsing them, you can drain them in a colander or pat them dry.
If you aren’t going to use a whole bunch, cut small clusters off the stem instead of picking individual grapes. This keeps the rest of the grapes fresher by preventing the stem from drying out.
Since the grape skins contain most of the vital nutrients, it’s a good idea to leave them on.
